Aptos Font is an oriental, clear and geometrical sans serif font that was designed on the principles of mid twentieth-century Swiss typography. Sharp line endings give the typeface a hierarchical and neat feel; the contacts between the curved and straight strokes are clean; therefore, the typeface does not foster the feeling of dozens of types cramped together and providing poor legibility. Designing Aptos was a tale of driving down value and simplicity, leveraging what designer Steve Matteson says: ‘the austerity and directness that is required in huge variety of Office documents created every day’.
